Music is a complex art form, and there are lots of elements and different instruments that are used to make music all the more enjoyable that we just do not know about. This website has been made for the purpose of introducing everyone to the beauty of the complexity of music, and what elements are used in each form.

What Makes A Song Unique?

There are multiple aspects that shape a song's true and unique identity. For example, the meter of a song, chord progressions and instruments used can all affect the direction that a song is taking. A really good example is Rock V Jazz. Rock has a more straight forward chord progression and meter, with not many complex elements, whereas jazz uses multiple meters and 'ninth' notes in its chords to give it a distinct sound.



What are the basic elements of a song?

The basic elements of a song include structure, harmony, rhythm, melody, chord progression, and whether the song is holophonic or polyphonic. All of these elements are the basis of a well constructed song; the harmony and rhythm provide the overall groove of the song, the structure glues the song elements together, and the chord progression can also have a large influence on the song as it dictates the song direction.



How can feelings be expressed in a song?

The key and instruments used int eh song can depened on the mood. For example if the artist is feeling depressed, or sad in general, they'd use minor keys, and utilize slow, sad piano parts and orchetstral elements to convey their sadness. On the other hand, if the songwriter is feeling happy, joyous, or jubilant, they use major keys more often with a combination of exciting tunes and melodies that can be created using electric guitar, keyboards, and horn sections.



What makes a song popular?

There are many contributing factors to a song's popularity. For instance, the topic being conveyed in the song can boost the song's popularity if it resonates with a large portion of the audience. Additonally, songs with unqiue structures, innovative sounds and lyrics, and a well defined rhythm can also do well in song charts as all these elements can help showcase the purity and authenticity of the songwriter's ability.
